Proposal Specialist/Senior Proposal Specialist
Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) has an opening for a Proposal Specialist or Senior Proposal Specialist to join the Client Relations & Marketing department in the Toronto office.
Reporting to the Director, Client Value, this role will work closely with Blakes lawyers, marketing colleagues and other administrative departments to create industry-leading pitch and proposal materials. The successful candidate will be someone who has a passion for writing and editing, with strong analytical skills.
Primary responsibilities associated with this position include:
- Leading the proposal response process from start to finish, including:
- Developing a strategic approach, drawing on existing content and drafting customized content based on various partners’ needs
- Establishing and meeting deadlines for efficient, on-time delivery of materials
- Arranging for and executing debrief discussions with lawyers and clients
- Project managing bid opportunities, from multi-practice bids to smaller competitive opportunities
- Overseeing the collection and organization of precedent materials
- Assisting with the creation of presentations for client pitches
- Assisting with periodic writing and editing projects
- Providing support to the Proposal team and broader Client Relations & Marketing department
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- University degree with relevant experience in the legal or professional services industry, or another client-facing industry, for a minimum of two years (Proposal Specialist) to four years (Senior Proposal Specialist)
- Bilingual in English and French an asset
Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience with writing, editing and formatting documents, proposals, grant applications or working with other documents that meet an established set of guidelines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and confidentially with people at all levels of the organization
- Strong client-service approach, with a desire to meet high expectations
- Well organized, with superb attention to detail and excellent time-management skills
- Proactive, with the ability to listen and influence others
- A creative thinker, with effective problem-solving skills and judgment
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint
