Full Time Law Clerk/Legal Assistant
What you will do
We serve both employer and employee clients with a wide range of solicitor and litigation workplace law issues, including contract reviews, disability management, discrimination and harassment claims, workplace investigations, M&A employment matters, termination claims and litigation.
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Law Clerk/Legal Assistant to join our legal team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day project management of client files in Asana and Clio, working with the lawyers for responsive client service, filing client documents and emails, and preparing correspondence and legal documents.
This role requires a high level of organization, proactively driving files forward, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively manage client files, including maintaining and organizing the document and task management systems through Asana, Clio and Google Drive.
- Review and proofread documents and correspondence to ensure compliance with legal procedures and grammatical accuracy.
- Draft legal correspondence and documents.
- Conduct legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis and BlueJ Legal.
- Perform data entry and maintain case files.
- Organize and maintain legal documents and filings.
- Help organize documents for an Affidavit of Documents.
- Occasionally fill out and file court forms.
- Provide general clerical support to lawyers.
- Follow and iterate office procedures and routines, and work with the operations team to constantly innovate and improve the firm.
Requirements
- Legal Assistant and/or Law Clerk diploma and ideally a university degree.
- Strong attention to detail and a client-focused approach.
- A proactive approach to your work and client service, anticipating file, client and lawyer needs to deliver excellent client solutions.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Warm and collaborative interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Highly organized.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated reliability and dependability in previous roles.
