Senior Litigation Legal Assistant / Law Clerk (Virtual)
Note: This is a permanent, full-time, remote position. Candidates must be able to work during Toronto-based hours and attend occasional in-person meetings/events (approximately once per month, if required).
True Law is a virtual boutique litigation firm based in Toronto, specializing in civil litigation, employment law, and construction law. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Legal Assistant or Law Clerk to join our team. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure, Ontario court processes, and a high degree of competence in preparing and filing court documents.
Responsibilities:

Court Preparation and Filing: Manage court filings and prepare for motions, hearings, and other proceedings, including familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure, Ontario Courts' practice directions, CaseLines, and the JSO Portal.

Client and Court Communications: Serve as a liaison with clients, other legal professionals, and court personnel to ensure seamless communication and case progression.

File Management: Organize, maintain, and update electronic client files for accuracy and compliance.

Meeting Coordination: Schedule and set up virtual meetings via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other platforms, ensuring all participants have required materials.

Document Preparation: Draft and format correspondence, reports, and legal documents (Motion Records, Affidavit of Documents, etc.).

Software Usage: Utilize Clio for practice management (knowledge of Clio is beneficial but not required) and demonstrate strong working knowledge of Adobe, Microsoft Outlook, and Word.
Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 7+ years as a litigation legal assistant or law clerk with in-depth knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, practice directions and Ontario court systems.

Skills: Proficiency in court document preparation, electronic filing, and legal document management. Ability to work independently and accurately, follow instructions with minimal supervision, and take initiative as required. Strong writing skills with the ability to communicate professionally with the courts and clients.

Technical Aptitude: Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and online meeting platforms.

Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, adaptable, and proactive with a commitment to maintaining high standards in a fast-paced environment.

Eligibility: Must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or with legal status to work in Canada.
