Graphic Designer
Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes), one of Canada’s largest and most successful law firms, has an immediate opening for a Graphic Designer to join the Client Relations & Marketing department in the Toronto office.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Brand & Digital Marketing, the Graphic Designer will design printed and digital graphics, ensuring graphics, logos, illustrations, communications and collateral adhere to the Firm’s brand guidelines and quality standards.
Primary responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering compelling and creative designs for a range of materials, including, but not limited to: invitations, advertisements, booklets, handouts, RFP materials, event signage, social media and web assets, electronic communications, and videos.
- Ensuring all creative assets are aligned with the Blakes brand.
- Liaising with and guiding freelancers and an external creative agency.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external clients by providing quality customer service while maintaining a positive attitude and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Contributing to the team effort by helping others in the department meet deadlines and complete projects in a timely manner.
- Implementing accessibility standards, including AODA, to ensure compliance when finalizing any digital product with a mass audience, such as website assets.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Degree or diploma in graphic design or a related field is required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in graphic, web design and motion-graphic design is required. Recent graduates will also be considered.
- Agency or professional services experience is an asset.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating a wide scope of projects, including both print and digital assets, demonstrating creativity, technical skills and attention to detail.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat). After Effects and Premiere Pro skills are an asset.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint).
- Ability to create on-brand materials and maintain consistency across designs.
- Ability to stay current with design trends and industry best practices to ensure visually compelling material and improve creative output.
- Strong understanding of layout, colour theory and typography.
- Understanding of print production and digital design.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
- Client-service-oriented, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to receive feedback and incorporate revisions effectively in order to improve designs while maintaining a positive, collaborative attitude.
- Familiarity with AODA accessibility standards.
- Proficiency in understanding requirements and effectively working with data.
- Familiarity with corporate and professional services branding is a plus.
