Senior Accounting Clerk

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accounting Clerk to join our dynamic accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. This role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and supporting the accounting team in various tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, journals, and reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and timely.
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Assist with the preparation of accruals for month-end close procedures, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Review accounts for any unrecorded expenses or revenue, ensuring completeness and compliance.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Coordinate with other departments to gather and analyze financial data.
- Resolve discrepancies and issues related to financial transactions.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.
- Assist in the implementation and improvement of accounting systems and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a similar role. Legal accounting experience is an asset.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Solono, PClaw, Excel, etc).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Required Experience:
- Legal or real estate accounting experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance.
