Mid-Level Litigation Law Clerk
Pape Salter Teillet LLP is a law firm with offices in Toronto and Vancouver. For 40 years we have been working with Indigenous peoples to secure a constitutional and legal space to protect their lands, self-government, and collective futures. We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Law Clerk with a focus on litigation.
Responsibilities Include:
- Preparation and drafting of correspondence and legal documents (including briefing notes, submissions, statements of claim, notices of application, application records, appeal record, etc.)
- Service and filing of court documents through court portals or over-the-counter in various jurisdictions across Canada
- E-discovery and related document management
- Daily file management through all stages of the legal process
- Working in multiple jurisdictions across Canada
- Working with various programs including, Microsoft 365, NetDocuments, Epiq Discovery, and PC Law, among others
- Attending court hearings to provide litigation support
- Communicating with clients, opposing parties, and courts
- Other duties as required and assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of experience working as a Law Clerk in a related practice area. Experience in Aboriginal law is an asset
- College Diploma/University Degree in a relevant field
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, document management software, and e-discovery software
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, meet tight deadlines, and work well under pressure
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Professional, friendly demeanor with a strong ability to build productive relationships
- Strong understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure and ability to adapt to different jurisdictions across Canada
