Facilities SIG - LEED Accreditation
Description
LEED and Sustainability Objectives for Facilities Managers and Key Principles for Success of a LEED Project
Delivering a successful LEED construction or renovation project that meets or exceeds executive management expectations requires different skills, different processes, and different people involved in different ways in order for a LEED project to be successful.
LEED is not just an option that can be “ordered” with the building or easily retrofitted later – like larger tires on a car. LEED is part of the fabric of design of your building, and as such decisions and actions that affect LEED must be made from the time of conception of the project to the time the first occupant moves in.
The body of knowledge associated with LEED that is new to you is large and growing, ; key decisions are made differently – and more importantly, for the most part they are made earlier for the most part than in conventional building projects.
As the benefits of LEED become generally accepted, implementation of LEED becomes a growing concern. As a result, the Facilities Manager or Real Estate Manager needs to learn new ways of doing things in order to be successful today.
