Most adults spend most of their waking hours at work. Workplaces can play an essential part in maintaining positive mental health. Mental health is an issue that impacts every workplace in Canada however it can be a topic that is many times not proactively addressed or talked about.
In our session Dana Hurst with People Corporation will introduce us to some strategic steps on how to address mental health in the workplace and will share with us some statistics and industry trends.
- Conduct a mental health audit –challenges and opportunities
- Having an “Executive” conversation
- Identify employee needs, concerns
- Set goals and objectives for strategic initiatives
- Implement mental health education/training
- Supportive resources (People Connect/EAP)
Our two speakers, Marva Bethune with Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP and Georgia Rennick with Aird & Berlis LLP will share their impactful journeys in breaking the silence towards positive mental health and wellness in their workplaces.
With an understanding of the human and financial costs of workplace mental health, addressing mental health at work is vitally important. Employers are better able to develop action plans for improving employee well-being which ultimately impacts the bottom line.
