WSIB Paralegal
Sherrard Kuzz LLP is one of Canada's leading employment and labour law firms, representing employers. We are seeking a Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (“WSIB”) Paralegal to join our team.
The WSIB Paralegal will:
- Assess and manage active case files before the WSIB and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (“WSIAT”) identifying areas of entitlement or benefit.
- Contact clients to provide updates.
- Correspond with the WSIB and WSIAT including the drafting of written submissions and gathering of evidence.
- Review medical records, claim documentation and relevant legislation and case law.
- Prepare for and attend hearings before the WSIB and WSIAT.
- Maintain tickler and bring forward systems.
- Maintain knowledge and comply with the firm’s practice and file management policies and procedures.
The WSIB Paralegal will have the following designations/skills/experience:
- A licensed Paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- A minimum of five (5) years experience handling claim files before the WSIB and WSIAT; knowledgeable on the WSIB and WSIAT Rules of Procedure and applicable legislation.
- Able to maintain a high level of integrity, professionalism and discretion.
- Self-motivated, detail-minded, organized, and an independent thinker.
- Strong multitasking and time management skills.
- Committed to a team and goal-oriented environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Highly proficient in the use and application of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
Hybrid:
Onsite at least 3 days a week with the option to work from home 2 days a week (subject to a fully onsite training period).
